Caitríona Lucas to be honoured at weekend event

Irish Coast Guard volunteer Caitríona Lucas will be remembered this weekend at a special event in Ennistymon.

The Clare Association, Dublin – Muintir an Chláir – confirmed in December, that  Caitríona would be awarded their Clareperson of the Year award for her “outstanding contribution to communities in Co. Clare and beyond.”

This will be the first time that The Clare Association in Dublin will make a posthumous award.

Doolin Coast Guard member and mother-of-two Caitríona died while taking part in a search for a missing man in Kilkee on September 12th last. The boat, carrying Caitríona and two colleagues from the Kilkee unit of the service, capsized tossing all three into the sea.

Caitríona will be honoured at the Clare Association Dublin Annual Dinner and Clare Person of the Year award presentation at the Falls Hotel Ennistymon on Saturday 25th February at 7:30p.m.

On Sunday at 11am in Ennistymon Church, Bishop of Killaloe, Bishop Fintan Monahan patron of the association, Fr. Des Forde C.C. and the associations Chaplin Fr. Finbar Neylon will con-celebrate a remembrance mass for Caitriona Lucas and all are welcome.
