One person has been seriously injured following a road traffic incident in West Clare this evening.
Emergency service are currently dealing with the collision on the N67 between Kilkee and Kilrush.
It’s understood that a person, believed to be a male, as struck by a car at Lisdeen at around 7.00pm.
National Ambulance Service paramedics and GardaĂ attended the scene along with units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service.
The N67 is currently closed at Lisdeen while local diversions have been put in place. The road is not expected to reopen until midday on Friday at the earliest.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are due to carry out an examination of the scene on Friday morning.
GardaĂ have confirmed: “Following a serious traffic collision on the N67 near Lisdeen earlier this evening, the road will remain closed overnight and is unlikely to reopen before tomorrow afternoon.
Diversions are in place and traffic is advised to divert via Doonbeg, with larger vehicles to use the R483 from Kilrush to Cree and then the N67 via Doonbeg.”
