Green Schools is operated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce in partnership with Clare County Council. It is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that acknowledges long-term whole school action for the environment.

“With over 134 schools across Clare registered for the Green Schools Programme and 110 schools flying the Green Flag, this annual seminar is a very popular event for schools and the Schools Green Schools co-ordinator for primary and secondary schools across Clare,” said Karen Foley, Environmental Awareness Officer.

Ms. Foley added, “It is great to see two additional secondary schools work towards getting their first Green Flag in litter and waste. We are looking forward to working with and helping and supporting both primary and secondary schools to achieve their Green Flag for 2017.”

Rachel Geary, coordinator of An Taisce’s Learn About Forest Programme and Green Schools Officer co-ordinator commented, “These annual workshops are very useful. I am continuously impressed by dedication and work of Green Schools throughout County Clare.”
