Motorist collecting children from school failed drugs test

A motorist who was collecting a child from school was arrested and had their car seized by Gardaí after being found to be under the influence of drugs.

Gardaí attached to the Roads Policing unit in Clare were alerted by the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology in their patrol car to a vehicle of interest. The car was later intercepted at a school.

It emerged that the car was uninsured and that the driver had no licence, tax, insurance or NCT.
