Woman and children in Corofin crash

A woman and two young children had a lucky escape this morning when the car in which they were travelling crashed into a stone wall and flipped over.

The incident happened shortly after 9.00pm on the Ennis road out of Corofin in Co Clare.

The vehicle crashed into a wall at the front of the a house before flipping over several times.

Emergency services were alerted by locals who also assisted the occupants at the scene.

An ambulance and rapid response vehicle along with two units of the fire brigade from Ennis responded to the incident.

On arrival, paramedics found that the driver had been taken from the scene by car. They were told she had been taken to hospital in Limerick.

The children were assessed at the scene by paramedics but were found to have been uninjured. They were left in the care of their father.

Gardaí from Ennistymon are investigating the cause of the accident.
