Seminar for owners of historic homes

old historic house homeOwners of historic houses in County Clare are being invited to a special seminar on Section 482, the Tax Break that allows owners of such properties to offset the cost of repairs and maintenance against their income from all sources.

It is estimated that there are up to 600 lived-in historic homes in County Clare.

The upcoming seminar, entitled ‘Section 482, The Historic Houses Tax Break, takes place in Killruddery, Bray, County Wicklow on June 16th.

The event is for home owners who are considering an application for the initial S842 Determination, have received the initial Determination but have not proceeded with the scheme, already operate S482 but wish to use the scheme more efficiently, wish to extend the Determination to other Protected Structures on the property or seek clarification about other aspects of Section 482.

Among the speakers will be Eileen Hoey from the S482 Section of the Revenue Commissioners; William Cumming, Senior Architectural Advisor with the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht; and Julian Gaisford-St. Lawrence, Chairman of the Irish Historic Houses Association (IHH).
