The Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Cllr PJ Ryan, has welcomed the announcement of the 2022 Town and Village Renewal Scheme by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD.

The Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan TD, and the Minister of State with responsibility for Postal Matters, Hildegarde Naughton TD, today announced a funding package of €30m over a three-year fixed period to support a sustainable, nationwide post office network.

The Regional Group of TDs published their third Dáil motion calling on the Government to intervene and support the post office network before it collapses.  

Independent Clare TD Michael McNamara has called on the Minister for Agriculture to allow temporary adjustments to the conditions of the GLAS scheme which would enable farmers with low-input permanent pasture and traditional hay meadows to cut more hay and silage.

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris and Minister of State for Skills and Further Education Niall Collins have today announced a major investment in skills training for the Mid-West region.

The land acquisition process is currently underway to facilitate a major upgrade of the waste water scheme in the Meelick/Ballycannon area and it is expected that construction will get under way next year.

The 2022 programme follows on from the success of the 2019 and 2021 graduate programme where 10 journalism graduates were placed in 10 different radio stations for a period of 5 months. Such was the success of that programme that funding has been awarded for the 2022 programme. Applications for the 2022 intake are open now.
