Several changes were announced in the Diocese of Killaloe prior to the appointment of Fr Fintan Monahan as Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly’s successor on Friday.

Prompted by an analysis of the diocese’s Pastoral Plan it was decided to make modifications which came into effect on Monday. A newly created role sees Fr Michael Geraghty take charge of social media in the diocese. Fr Tom O’Gorman is now responsible for directing the support network of Catholic Healthcare Chaplains.

Fr Ger Nash has moved from his role as Crusheen Parish Priest to that of Director of Pastoral Development along with continuing as Killaloe Diocesan Secretary. Nash’s departure from Crusheen which is part of the Imeall Boirne parishes comprised of Ruan, Tubber, Corofin and Crusheen means just three priests will serve the area.

Priests in the Nenagh Parish are now responsible for Cloughjordan as well as their current positions. It had been previously served under the Cluster of Cois Deirige since January of this year.
