A man is recovering in hospital after he suffered what have been described as ‘serious injuries’ in a road traffic collision on the Clare/Limerick boarder early today.
A cyclist in his 40’s was injured in the incident which occurred at around 5.00am on the L3112 road at Cratloemoyle. It’s understood that no other vehicle was involved.
The 600m stretch of road, where the collision occurred, links the old Limerick to Cratloe road with the dual-carriageway near the Radisson Hotel.
Gardaí and National Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the collision. The injured cyclist was rushed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
A garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí and emergency services responded to the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the L3112, Cratloemoyle, Co Clare this morning at approximately 5.00am.”
“A man, aged in his 40s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. Investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson added.
The road was closed for several hours to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
