The Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter completed two lengthy lifesaving rescue missions on Saturday.
Shortly before 11am, Rescue 115 was tasked to an incident at sea off the Cork coast.
Coast Guard watch officers based on Valentia Island also requested the Courtmacsherry RNLI Lifeboat to launch and respond to the scene 12 nautical miles (22 kilometres) south of the Seven Heads in West Cork.
A diver was reported to have gotten into difficulties while participating in a dive on the wreck of the Lusitania. Sunk in 1915 by a German U-boat, the wreck lies at a depth of 300 feet.
As the diver required urgent medical attention he was airlifted from the water by the helicopter crew and flown to University Hospital Galway for specialist treatment. UHG has a hyperbaric chamber used in the treatment of divers suffering from a condition knowns as the bends.
Late last night, Rescue 115 was tasked to another incident at sea, this time off the southwest coast. Rescue 115 departed from its base at Shannon Airport at around 10.30pm.
The helicopter crew was requested to make its way to rendezvous with a fishing trawler west of Dingle in Co Kerry where a crew member was reported to require medical attention.
The casualty was airlifted from the vessel to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
Earlier in the day, Rescue 115 was tasked along with the Kilrush RNLI lifeboat to an incident close to the mouth of the Shannon Estuary.
Both crews had been tasked to assist two paddleboarders reported to have gotten into difficulty and drifting at sea west of Kerry Head. While making their what to the scene, all crews were stood down after it was confirmed the paddleboarders had been taken on board a passing vessel went to their assistance.
