Culture Night will see venues and public spaces across Ireland open its doors to host a programme of free late-night entertainment, as part of an all-island celebration of arts, heritage and culture.

Bunratty Castle & Folk Park in Co. Clare will also open its doors to the public free of charge from 5pm. As part of the evening’s celebrations, the wonderful evening entertainments team will perform a series of 30 minute performances. Visitors can sit back and enjoy the best in Irish music, dance and song from some of the region’s most talented artists. Pre-booking is essential to avoid disappointment! The entire Folk Park will remain open on Culture Night until 8pm, including Pa’s Pet Farm, the Viking playground and the newly redeveloped fairy trail.

Bunratty Castle won’t be the only castles to ‘throw down its drawbridge’ for free to the public on Culture Night. King John’s Castle in Limerick will also play host to the wonderful Shannon Gospel Choir who will perform a very special outdoor concert in the courtyard from 7pm – 8pm.

Having celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year, the Shannon Gospel Choir is widely known for its contemporary style. With the castle’s dramatic courtyard acting as a stunning backdrop, this promises to be a performance to remember.

On the night visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the castle’s visitor centre complete with state of the art interpretive activities and exhibitions including 21st century touch screen technology, 3D models and discovery drawers that will connect you to tales of siege and warfare. You can even climb the castle towers and take in stunning views across Limerick City and the River Shannon.

Niall O’Callaghan, Managing Director of Shannon Heritage said: “We are delighted to have such a comprehensive line-up of events at a number of our attractions for Culture Night this year. This is a great opportunity to see some incredible and historical attractions free of charge on what is a special evening in the year and a chance to celebrate Ireland’s arts, heritage and culture.”
