One hospitalised after Tulla road collision

One person has been taken to hospital following a road traffic collision near Tulla this afternoon.

The two-car crash occurred at around 3.30pm at the intersection of the R352 Ennis to Scarriff road and the R462 Tulla to Kilkishen route.

Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Scarriff station responded to the incident along with National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí.

On arrival at the scene, emergency services found that the occupants of one vehicle had been uninjured but that the driver and sole occupant of the second car was trapped inside.

Firefighters used specialist equipment to cut the driver’s door off the car so they could safely remove the casualty.

The man was assessed at the scene by paramedics before being removed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for further treatment. His injuries are not believed to be serious.

Both vehicles were removed from the scene shortly before 5.00pm and road fully reopened.
