1846 – Mullagh NS was opened.
1880 – Sergeant Major Thomas O’Grady from Clare and Father of the New Zealand Police Force departs the Lyttelton Police District.
1921 – The IRA in Clare make final preparations for an ambush of an RIC patrol at Glenwood, between Sixmilebridge and Broadford. Six RIC men were killed including a District Inspector and two are wounded. The IRA volunteers captured 10 rifles.
1989 – President Patrick Hillery from Miltown Malbay undertook a State visit to China.
1998 – The Good Friday Agreement was overwhelmingly endorsed in Clare.
1998 – Thousands flocked to Ennis for the 29th Fleadh Nua Traditional Music Festival.
2000 – A survey showed that half of Clare’s small and medium-size businesses had their own website.
2003 – The Official Languages Bill 2002, introduced by the Minister for the Gaeltacht, Mr Ó CuÃv, gave citizens the right to conduct their business with any State agency or Government department, in Irish.
