Three Clare students have won top prizes in this year’s 72nd Texaco Children’s Art Competition.
They were Emily Coffey (13) from Rice College, Ennis, and Maccon Moloney (8) and Michael Ryan (10), both from Ennis Art School.
All were winners of Special Merit Awards which Final Adjudicator – Irish visual artist, curator and educator – Pauline O’Connell said ‘were imaginative and demonstrated high levels of skill and creativity’.
No strangers to the competition, Emily won second prize in the 12-13 years age category last year and first prize in the 9-11 years age category in 2024, whilst Michael won Special Merit Awards in both 2025 and 2024.
The Texaco Children’s Art Competition is popularly regarded as the longest-running sponsorship in the history of arts sponsoring in Ireland, with an unbroken history that dates back to the very first Competition held in 1955. This year, as has been the case throughout its life, it has been a platform on which young artists from Clare and counties throughout Ireland have had their talents recognised and their creativity commended.
