The Ennis Book Club Festival has confirmed plans to introduce The Beyond Borders Book Club.

A spokesperson explained: “Ennis Book Club Festival loves books and loves talking about them even more. We are also aware that County Clare is a very diverse county with the latest figures showing that 9.5 percent of people resident in Clare are from outside Ireland and that there are many more people again who hold dual nationality.”

“Ennis Book Club Festival prides itself on being a welcoming festival where members of book clubs from all around the country gather and enjoy the pleasure of literature and books in an informal and relaxed environment.

Ennis Book Club Festival would like to make sure that this welcome is extended to people from other countries and backgrounds who live in Clare and so how best to do it? We are hoping the Beyond Borders Book Club might be just the thing and of course, we’ll get to hear about some great books from other places and culture,” the spokesperson added.

How does it work?

The Beyond Borders Book Club will take place one evening per week for the next four weeks in Rowan Tree Café and will finish in a grand finale event at Ennis Book Club Festival on Sunday March 4th. Each event will be chaired by Clare based poet and community worker Sarah Clancy.
