Doonbeg St. Patrick’s Parade on March 16th

Doonbeg is gearing up for a celebration steeped in tradition and community spirit as the annual St. Patrick’s Parade prepares to take the streets on Saturday, March 16th.

This year’s parade, themed “Going Back to our Roots,” promises a nostalgic journey through the heritage of everyone in our communities, accompanied by vibrant performances and a host of family-friendly activities.

Kicking off at 3:30pm, the floats will parade through Doonbeg and leading the procession will be the wonderful Tulla Pipe Band, returning to Doonbeg again this year. Joining them for the first time all the way from Switzerland will be Michi & his Marching Band Escheschranzer, adding an international flair to the festivities with this youthful band.

Adding a touch of vintage charm to the parade will be a spectacular display of classic tractors and cars. Children are invited to indulge in the fun with face painting and plenty of goodies to keep the excitement levels high throughout the event.

Excitement builds further as €1,000 in prize money and trophies are up for grabs, with awards presented at a special ceremony at the Igoe Inn following the parade. Participants are encouraged to let their creativity shine by entering floats, with assembly beginning at 3:00 PM in Doonbeg GAA’s Shanahan McNamara Memorial Park. All are welcome to join in the revelry and experience the magic of St. Patrick’s Day in Doonbeg.

Speaking about the event, Chairperson of the Doonbeg St Patrick’s Committee and local publican Tommy Tubridy, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a great tradition in Doonbeg, and this year, we’re going back to our roots, celebrating our community’s heritage and vibrancy from all sorts of backgrounds. It is fantastic that we have Michi & his marching band all the way from Switzerland this year. We invite everyone to come together, join the festivities, and have the craic with family and friends.”

Don’t miss out on the excitement of the Doonbeg St. Patrick’s Parade on Saturday, March 16th, as the town comes alive with music, colour, and camaraderie.
