A man and woman will appear in court in Ennis on Wednesday morning charged in connection with a drugs seizure at Shannon Airport on Monday.
On Monday 11th May 2026 Revenue officers at Shannon Airport seized approximately 31kg of suspected herbal cannabis. The seized drugs are believed to have an estimated value of €620,000.
One male in his 30s and one female, aged in her 40s, were arrested by Gardaí attached to the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit.
They were detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in the Clare-Tipperary Division.
They have since been charged in relation to this investigation and are due to appear before Ennis District Court on Wednesday 13th May 2026 at 10:30am.
The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
