Doonbeg pulling out all the stops for Trump visit

The community of Doonbeg is preparing for the visit this week of US President Donald Trump and are planning a range of activities to ensure the international media sees what the village and West Clare have to offer .

President Trump will stay at his family-owned hotel and golf resort during his two-night stay in Co Clare. Air Force Once is due to touch down in Shannon on June 5th bring the eyes of the world to the county.

A spokesman for Doonbeg Community Development Ltd said: “During the period from Tuesday 4th of June to Friday 7th of June Doonbeg will see an international media presence following the Presidential visit, we the community are taking this opportunity to show the world what a beautiful place Doonbeg and West Clare is to come and visit.”

“Paddle boats will be available on the lake within the village each afternoon and will be provided free of charge. Pony and carriage rides will be available each afternoon also while there’ll be music in the pubs throughout the week.

On Wednesday 5th from 7pm to 9pm in the centre of the village at the fair green there will be a gig rig featuring local musicians and set dancing. There will of course be great food, drink and craic in all the pubs and restaurants,” he added.

“We also have many walking and cycle routes and hope that all visitors and locals will come along and enjoy the hospitality that this coastal West Clare village has to offer,” the spokesman added.
