Two units of the fire brigade and an ambulance from Ennis along with gardaí responded to the scene. On arrival, emergency crews found a man in his 60’s trapped in his vehicle. The car is understood to have lost control and crashed down an embankment into a field where it came to a stop in its roof.

The sole occupant of the car was soon released by fire crews and assessed at the scene by National Ambulance Service paramedics. The man did not require hospitalisation.

A Yellow Status weather warning for the country will remain in place until midday with dangerous conditions reported in a number of areas.

Gardaí have warned motorists to be mindful of the conditions and to exercise caution.
