A woman has died in a road traffic collision in Co Clare overnight.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at around 12.30am at Annagh near Miltown Malbay.
National Ambulance Service paramedics, Gardaí and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennistymon station responded to the incident.
It’s understood the woman’s car left the road and the driver, a woman in her 90s and sole occupant, died at the scene. Her body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be conducted at a later date.
The road is currently closed to allow for an examination to be carried out by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. They are particularly appealing to any road users who were travelling on this road at the time with camera footage to make this available to them.

*The woman has been named locally as Peggy Morrissey, the mother of RTÉ sports commentator and TV presenter Marty Morrissey.
RTÉ director general Dee Forbes has expressed her condolences to Morrissey in a statement this afternoon.
“We were shocked and saddened to learn this morning of the sudden passing of our colleague Marty Morrissey’s beloved mother, Peggy.
We have been in touch with Marty to offer him our sincere condolences but to also offer him our support and to afford him the time and space to come to terms with his tragic loss. Our thoughts are with Marty and his family and close friends at this saddest of times,” Ms Forbes added.
