The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard was tasked to an incident on Tuesday evening involving a vessel with two people on board on the River Shannon south of Killaloe/Ballina bridge.
The team was alerted at 8:15pm by watch officers at the Irish Coast Guard marine rescue coordination centre on Valentia Island in Kerry.
Staff there had received a report that a boat with two persons on board had suffered engine failure and was adrift on the river.
A Coast Guard boat crew launched from Pier Head in Killaloe and located the vessel on the Tipperary shore south of the old Ballina/Killaloe bridge.
The vessel was taken on tow by the Coast Guard rescue boat to the public jetty in Killaloe. A Coast Guard shore team was standing by to assist with the safe mooring of the casualty vessel.
The two people on board the vessel were unharmed.
