The Clare Youth Service are inviting teenagers across Co. Clare to get involved in this year’s Irish Youth Music Awards (IYMAs).
The local heat of the IYMAs will take place at the Clare Youth Service building, Carmody Street, Ennis on Saturday March 18th from 3-6pm.
The IYMAs is a national youth music education programme open to young people aged 13-19. Now entering its tenth year supporting the creativity of young people across Ireland, the project acts as a stepping stone in their journey as they progress to further education and employment opportunities.
Clare Youth Service have been regular participants in the programme over the last ten years. James Gormley from Inagh, was the representing act for Clare in 2015 and has now gone on to study at Cork School of Music. James also recently played with Mick Flannery at a sold out Switch event in Ennis.
Mike Gavin of Clare Youth Service said: “The IYMAs is a great opportunity for young people meet new friends, and to learn how to express themselves creatively. ‘The programme has been getting increasingly popular over the last number of years. Hundreds of young people attend the event, and the quality of acts on display is astounding. We really want to give young people the chance to get involved in events like this.”
The IYMAs programme will culminate with a youth music festival in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 22nd April 2017, but in preparation for the national event, the Ennis Music Project will be running a wide variety of music & digital media skills workshops, tutorials and events.
