The warning will come into effect at 6.00pm (Wednesday) and will remain in place until midday on Thursday.
Met Éireann has said it will be very cold this evening, tonight and on Wednesday morning with severe frost and icy stretches.
Possible impacts of the cold snap include difficult travelling conditions: low temperature issues for vulnerable people and animal welfare issues.
Tonight
Very cold this evening and tonight with widespread sharp to severe frost and icy stretches. Dry apart from isolated wintry showers in the west. Patches of fog or freezing fog developing under clear skies. Lows of -1 to -6 degrees with light northwest breezes.
Tomorrow
Thursday will continue very cold with frost and ice slow to thaw. Any fog patches slow to clear too. Sunny spells in most areas and isolated showers in the west. Highest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees with light northwest breezes.
Advisory
Meanwhile, Met Éireann has issued a Weather Advisory with immediate effect and remaining valid until midday on Friday, January 19th.
Forecasters says Arctic air will bring winter hazards this coming week. Sharp to severe frosts expected with icy stretches on roads and pavements. Some sleet or snow will occur at times too, mostly for northern areas, and especially for hills.
Tuesday, 12.55pm – A further Status Yellow – Low Temperature/Ice warning has been issued for Clare.
The warning will come into effect at 6.00pm (Tuesday) and will remain in place until 11.00 on Wednesday.

Tuesday, 8.10am – The temperature dropped to almost -6 degrees at a weather monitoring station in Co Clare overnight.
The Tulla Automatic Climate Station (ACS), located near the village of Tulla, reported a temperature at 7.00am of -5.7C. Temperatures as low as -7.1C have been reported in areas of Co Cork.
Caution is urged on the roads particularly as a Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning for Clare remains in place this morning.
Monday, 5.25pm – Met Éireann has issued a new Status Yellow – Low Temperature/Ice warning for Clare.
The warning comes into effect immediately and will remain in place until 11.00 on Tuesday.
The weather service says it will be very tonight and on Tuesday morning with severe frost and icy stretches. It will be oldest over southern half of the country.

Earlier: Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice Warning for Clare for tonight while the weather service has also published a Weather Advisory for the week ahead.
The Status Yellow warning will affect the entire country including Clare and will come into effect at 7.00pm today (Sunday) and remain in place until 11.00am on Monday.
Met Éireann says it will be very cold overnight and early Monday morning with the danger of icy patches. Some freezing fog patches may also occur locally.
