They have had little time to revel in their county glory but Kilmurry Ibrickane are determined to progress in the Munster club senior football championship.
Winning their fourteenth county championship has unsurprisingly lifted the confidence within the Bricks squad but more importantly in the eyes of selector James Murrihy it has boosted their supporters who will be out in full voice as they welcome Dr Crokes to Quilty at 1pm today.
“That second half performance would have brought their confidence on a good bit the way they saw out the game last Sunday and to win it by thirteen points that’s a great boost to their confidence”.
Dr Crokes carry the favourites tag heading into the game but Murrihy and all involved with Kilmurry are viewing this as the first of three hurdles in securing a provincial title. “If you look at our history in the Munster club we’ve always taking it serious in that a lot of our county titles have come in the fourteen fifteen years, the lads see it even though it’s a quarter-final and it’s going to take three games to win a Munster title they believe in themselves and believe in their own ability and I’ve no doubt you’ll see that when they take on Dr Crokes”.
It will be the third meeting between the sides since 2011, the Kerry side have been victorious in their last two outings and it is something the experienced Kilmurry Ibrickane players are aiming to amend.
James told Clare FM “The nagging thing particularly with a lot of the older lads on the panel is we’ve played once in Quilty and once in Kerry and we’ve come out the wrong side of a one point victory both times and those players are hoping to put that right on Sunday”.
