Investigation into Ennis armed raid

Gardaí in Ennis are investigating following an armed robbery at a shop in Ennis last night.

A lone male entered Hogan’s shop at Claureen on the Lahinch Road around 10.20pm. The man was reported to have had what appeared to be a short firearm.

Staff were intimidated by the thief who forced them to hand over the contents of the cash register. The man then left the scene on foot and travelled in the direction of Shanaway Road.

Gardaí issued a description of the man and have appealed for the public’s assistance in tracing him.

He is described as being in his early 20s and was wearing a black leather jacket, gloves and a dark hoodie. He also wore a white scarf in an effort to hide his face.

According to Gardaí, the culprit was was wearing dark jeans and dark shoes with a white trim at the bottom. The man is also believed to have spoken in an Eastern European accent.
